BRADES, Montserrat, November 20th, 2012 – Five groups are participating in the Living Healthy challenge organised by event promoters Punch and Get Out.

The duo of Gregory Willock and Albrun Semper created the event as a lead up to the annual cultural celebrations this December, with the goal of getting residents on island more active and making healthy lifestyle choices.

The programme deals with the four main components of the physical, emotional, mental and sexual health of each participant. Each group has a maximum of ten participants mixed male and female. It involves at least one hour of structured physical activity three times per week with individuals allowed to do whatever physical programme they wish on the other days.

“We have just completed week one and there are five groups A to E. Each group has completed three physical exercise sessions and one group discussion on the topic of exercise,” explained Willock. “All of the participants are fully engaged and excited.”

A group X has been created for those wishing to join but do not have team mates.

After the seven-week programme ends, there will be a post-assessment during the week of December 20 to 22 to evaluate the blood pressure, BMI and other tests of group member.

It is hoped that the participants will have received the tools during the exercise and weekly group discussions to continue on their own after festival has ended.

Punch and Get Out Productions host the annual soca monarch competition slated for December 26 at Festival Village in Little Bay.
