BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO students of the Edgar T Morris Primary school were yesterday (Nov. 20) given an ‘all-around’ experience when they were treated to lunch at the Nirvana Restaurant, but not before they were given a botanical experience.

Tianna Weekes and Juwan Mitcham were taken on a tour of the Fairview Great House and the Botanical Garden after which they dined at the Nirvana Restaurant, compliments Delisle Walwyn.

This experience came as part of the Department of Probation and Child Protection Services' Child Abuse Prevention Week, which is being celebrated from November 18 to 25 under the theme ‘Cherishing Children, Strengthening Families’.

Yesterday was observed as Universal Children's Day and, as part of that celebration, the Department called upon businesses to treat the children to lunch to which Delisle Walwyn happily obliged and gave the little ones something extra special and educational too.

Weekes and Mitcham toured the 18th Century Great House and learnt of its historic details and its contribution to St. Kitts and its inhabitants.

Their senses were stimulated with a stroll through the tropical Botanical Garden filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, as they were provided interesting information about the plants with signposts that gave details of each.

After the tour, they took to the restaurant and ‘chowed down’ on an exquisite lunch before heading back to school for an afternoon of academics.

The week continues with an Open House on Friday (Nov. 23) on Victoria Road, which is being held in an effort to raise awareness about child abuse to facilitate community involvement and partnership in "making these the best times to be a child".
