BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A Kittitian who pleaded guilty to incest has been sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for the act which he committed on a female under the age of 16.

The man appeared before Justice Paul Dennis at the Nevis High Court on Friday (Nov. 23) for sentencing.

The convict was charged with incest and unlawful carnal knowledge but pleaded guilty to the former charge.

He is originally from Stapleton Village, St. Peters but was living in Bricklin, Nevis, where the illicit act is said to have taken place.

The offence took place sometime between 2010 and 2011 and the act was committed on his daughter.

His trial was scheduled to start on November 13 but he changed his not guilty plea to guilty just as the case was about to begin.

The St. Peters man would now be residing at Her Majesty's Prison for the next 10 years.
