BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE man who was killed in Old Road yesterday morning (Dec. 4) was identified as Ivan Liburd and the name of the alleged perpetrator was given as Dudley ‘Tantala’ Tyson.

Liburd, formerly of Nevis, was residing in Old Road, St. Kitts at the time of his demise.

Contrary to a police press release, which stated that “two drinking companions got into an argument in a bar in Old Road that led to one striking the other with a piece of pipe in his head” and that the victim succumbed to his injury at the hospital, SKNVibes’ investigation revealed that the incident did not occur in a bar and the two men were not drinking companions.

A visit to Old Road this morning revealed that Liburd and another man had purchased some amount of alcohol from Pearline’s Bar, but instead of consuming it on the premises, they did so on a dirt road a short distance away from the bar.

It was also revealed that while the two men were imbibing, Tyson had approached them and requested to partake but Liburd denied him the opportunity.

Further revealed was that Tyson had left the area, but he shortly after returned while Liburd and his companion were about to leave.

This media house was informed that Tyson and Liburd were engaged in an argument, which led to him striking Liburd with an object, said to be a piece of pipe, on his head.

Liburd’s companion reportedly fled the scene and told someone a short distance away what transpired. However, when the companion and the individual visited the area where the incident occurred, they found Liburd lying on the ground with blood gushing from a wound to his head.

The ambulance was summoned and Liburd was rushed to the JNF General Hospital, where he shortly after succumbed to his injury.

Consequently, Tyson was arrested and is now said to be in custody at the Basseterre Police Station assisting police with their investigation into the matter.

This media house was however told that Tyson is rumoured to be of unsound mind and that in the distant past had committed a similar offence.
