BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 6th, 2012  --  Following the successful introduction of its ‘Think Pink’ Campaign in the month of October, the TDC Group of Companies continues to play its part in supporting the fight against the disease.

Mr. Leon Bass, Assistant General Manager of the TDC Home and Building Depot, presented Dr. Kathleen Allen-Ferdinand, one of the trustees of the St. Kitts-Nevis Breast Cancer Patients Association with a cheque for two thousand (EC$2000.00) dollars.

According to Mr. Bass, “breast cancer has found its way into to the homes and hearts of residents across the Federation, and has affected many persons, in one way or another. TDC is pleased to play our part in raising the level of consciousness and to make a donation to assist those affected in defraying some of the costs associated with treatment and care.”

In accepting the most welcomed donation, Dr. Allen-Ferdinand expressed her profound appreciation to the company and spoke of the importance of having Corporate backing for what has now become a National cause.

“Thank you very much. Thank you on behalf of the St. Kitts and Nevis Patients Assistance Fund and for all those persons who will benefit from this fund. Thank you for coming up with this brilliant idea and for showing how private and public sector partnership can help to raise awareness and take it to a different level,” remarked Ferdinand.

During the month of October, the Home and Building Depots transformed its stores using pink decorations and other paraphernalia to heighten public awareness of breast cancer.

In St. Kitts, the retail outlet designed a “Pink Room” located in the Furniture Showroom, where medical professionals conducted free examinations, while the same service was offered by the City Drug Store (Nevis) Limited. Ninety-nine (99) persons from both islands benefited from the worthwhile venture that gave the females, as well as, males the opportunity to get free testing and health advice and help reduce their risk of getting one of the world’s most dreaded diseases.

Shoppers were not left out of the unique promotion and received deep discounts on a wide array of household ‘pink’ products to show their solidarity for the venture.

Additionally, fifty (50) lucky customers from the participating businesses received vouchers to get mammograms through collaboration with Dr. Mark Hodge, a Certified and Trained Radiologist, who also fully endorsed and backed the endeavour.

The ‘Think Pink’ initiative forms part of the TDC Group of Companies, TDC is YOU Campaign. It formed part of a series of activities creatively designed to work with and support programmes that help to build stronger, healthier and more responsible communities.
