BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - INFORMATION reaching this publication indicates that one of the individuals who participated in the People’s Action Movement (PAM)-organised march against the land-for-debt-swap yesterday (Dec. 6) was taken into police custody after he reportedly was bearing paraphernalia of concern to the security forces.

The march – the second to be held since the land-for-debt-swap legislation was passed into law – commenced in the Greenlands area and flowed along Cayon Street, flowing right onto Church Street.

SKNVibes received information which suggests that when the march was on Church Street, a particular participant – identified at Elvis 'Jam Down' Manners – was removed from the march by members of the security forces.

Details remain sketchy at this time; however, unconfirmed reports suggest that he was either distributing flyers during the march or was fitted with a placard. The message which was carried either by the placard or the flyers sparked concern among members of the security forces, which led to his apprehension.

Notwithstanding, the march came to a successful end on George Street following which members of the executive of the People’s Action Movement assembled on the outside of the Basseterre Police Station seemingly seeking information about Manners and the situation.

Up until sometime after 9:00 p.m. – this publication understood – Manners was still in police custody.

Details would be provided in a subsequent posting as information becomes available.
