BASSETERRE, ST. Kitts - THE St. Kitts and Nevis National Olympic Committee (SKNOC) in collaboration with the St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) is currently hosting an IAAF CECS Level One Youth Coaching Course.

The course, which commenced on Friday (Dec. 7) and scheduled to conclude on Sunday (Dec. 16), is being facilitated by Kittitian Level Five Coach and lecturer Craig Connor and the first female lecturer in the Federation, Coach Roatter Johnson.

Twenty-four individuals are attending the course, who on successful completion will be inducted as Level One Coaches under the Coaches Education Certificate Systems, while some may also be eligible to sit the Level II Course should one become available.

President of the National Olympic Committee, Alphonso Bridgewater told the prospective coaches that he feels they were bold to undertake the course and wished them all the best in their endeavour.

He also went on to comment on how his Committee was able to get the funds for the course, stating that the International Olympic Committee was critical in the partnership through the Olympic Solidarity Programme.

Bridgewater declared that the vast majority of the funds that the Olympic Committee raises comes at games time when the Committee sells its broadcasts right to top television networks around the world.

He also declared that that particular money is distributed among the 205 member-countries from around the world.

Bridgewater noted that they also get financing from the Pan American Organization which is comprised of Olympic Committees in the Americas.

Connor and Johnson are certified lecturers by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
