Delisle Walwyn Insurance donates thousands of dollars to assist local community!

By: Delisle Walwyn, Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts November 29th 2012 - The Insurance Department of Delisle Walwyn has strengthened its portfolio of civic responsibility with another year of donations to worthy community and national causes.

This year has seen an expansion in the main fields of giving back to the community and focused not only on health appeals or established charities, but also on community efforts which would significantly impact the lives of the people of the nation.

Delisle Walwyn insurance proudly sponsored a project to repaint pedestrian crossings and traffic signs between  the C.F.B. College Main campus and the Fire Station in Newtown. Donations to the Children’s Home have been maintained with the purchase of windows, and this year donations to health causes included pledges to the Bibi Harridyal foundation to purchase equipment for people suffering from Asthma, and financial assistance for Leneisha Baptiste’s emergency operation.

Other contributions included assisting with the costs of securing a prosthetic leg for Edward 'Square man' Mulrane, the beach cleanup through the Department of Physical Planning & Environment, contributions to the Annual Primary School Championships, Sandy Point’s SPIRIT, and donation of trees for Independence Square, along with several other areas of assistance. Continuation of their public awareness program to “Keep our country clean & green”, is ongoing.

Pledges for the future include partnering with Operation Future to replace unsightly graffiti with positive murals in various communities, and this project is anticipated to start soon. We have also pledged sponsorship to the Pink Lily Foundation in Nevis for next year, an organization which not only raises awareness of the prevalence and need for early detection of breast cancer, but also offers support to those who overcome the illness, or family and friends surviving those who have fallen to the illness.

Director of Insurance Services, Michael Ryan, said he is very pleased that the Delisle Walwyn Insurance Department continued to hold as a top priority the importance of investing in people and in meaningful causes, as it is one of the best ways to be an active player in civil society.

"We do not see our role as a community agent and partner as just being in business. We recognize that it is most important to invest in people and to play an active role in the communities from which we get our custom.”

Ryan continued, ‘’Even as the nation continues to work its way out of an economic slowdown, we have generally maintained our commitments to these great community and national causes, and in some cases, we have expanded our profile by making new pledges to support health and social groups.’’

Delisle Walwyn has been offering insurance services to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis for over 125 years and are local agents for Caribbean Alliance Insurance Co. Ltd., a regional company that  has earned a financial strength rating of  “A- ”  by AM Best Co. Ltd.
