Kollison Band ‘Armed and Dangerous’ for its album launch tonight

By: Precious Mills, SKNVibes.com

Band politics: ‘We did Big Shake first’

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MUSIC lover in St. Kitts and Nevis and further afield are in for a special treat tonight (Dec. 13) as members of the Kollision Band is set to ‘mash up’ Freedom FM airwaves (106.5) from 9:00 p.m. with the launching of their album, dubbed ‘Armed and Dangerous’.

The Kollision Band is the first in the Federation to officially release songs for Sugar Mas 41, and this was done on Thursday (Nov. 29) on Freedom FM.

The band had released two songs, ‘Big Shake’ and the album title track ‘Armed and Dangerous’.

Other songs on the album include ‘Hustle’, ‘Ride’ and‘Amazing’.

Commenting on what the title track is about during an interview with SKNVibes, Marketing and Public Relations Manager Kevaughn Browne said: “It tells that we are musically armed and even though we are a young and upcoming band, we cannot and will not stay small forever because our potential  and ability are undeniable a force to be reckoned with.

“‘Armed and Dangerous’ is about the band being defensive to the critics and other bands that mistakenly underestimate us. Our music is sweet! Importantly, we appeal to a wide section of people and even children love the music that we put out. But those negative critics are trying to hold us down, but they should know that we are a stepping razor…as in a musical weapon.”

As it relates to Kollison Band being the first to officially publicise songs, Browne remarked: "The band is overwhelmed, having accomplished what it set out to do. Even though we weren't able to release the whole album at that time, our intention was to whet the appetite of our fans."

Asked how the response has been from the public following the airing of the two songs, Browne explained: “It has been very good. People have been commending the band saying how proud they are of the band’s work and how much the band has improved compared to last year. We would like to take the opportunity to express thanks to our fans, supporters and well wishers.”

Browne added: "Come tonight, listeners can expect sweet carnival tunes that would put them in the Carnival spirit. The public can expect much more than our last album because it is much different and the listeners are sure to love the new material.”

He noted that the band did a collaboration with Footsy and Dj Rinch and expressed that “we have surprise track for our fans”.

The band’s recording was done at Yard Tune Production in Cayon, St. Kitts.

It was observed that there has been a bit of band politics as it relates to a rendition for the famous Big Shake sports drink commercial, which originates from the island of Haiti.

Browne was asked for a comment on that observation.

"Kollison was the first band to put together a ‘Big Shake’ jam. We were the first to release it even though other bands are claiming that they were the first. It wasn’t on their album as a song; it was featured on their party mix.”

Interested persons can visit the band's Facebook fan page 'Kollision Band'. It should be noted that the band also has a dormant page and persons are asked to 'Like' the page that has the band's album cover as its cover picture.

The dormant page is expected to be 'shut down' shortly.

Browne revealed that the two released songs to date have received over 100 'Likes' each on their fan page.
