Sea Bridge back on routine after Sunday’s mechanical failure

By: Loshaun Dixon, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Sea Bridge has resumed normal operations following a mechanical failure on Sunday (Dec. 16) that caused the vessel to drift off course on a routine trip to Nevis.

The vessel was out of operation for a brief portion on Sunday afternoon while employees undertook a check to guarantee that a repeat was not possible.

Speaking to SKNVibes, owner of the vessel Rawlinson Isaac indicated that their service was back to normal on late Sunday afternoon and continued its regular schedule as of Monday.

He added that the few passengers that were onboard the vessel when the failure occurred were each provided a meal and were not charged due to the inconvenience.

He said that they also received assistance from the Coast Guard, which presence served as a precaution.

On Sunday, Isaac explained that the vessel had encountered an “airlock”, caused by a blockage of the flow of fuel during a regular engine switch over.

Isaac stated that the employees onboard worked assiduously on resolving the problem and they had indicated that they would have bled the engine in order to get back on course.

The problem was rectified and the vessel had made three trips on Sunday night.
