BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 21st 2012 - Junie Mitcham the former St.Kitts, Leeward Islands and West Indies U19 Player, who is now a certify England Cricket Board Coach (ECB) Level 3 Advance Head Coach, has been appointed by Leeward Islands Cricket Association and West Indies Cricket Board as the Territorial Development Officer for Cricket within the leeward Islands.
Three other personnel has been appointed as Development Officers, who will be responsible for the development in assigned Territories, they will also form part of the development team in helping to chart the way forward for cricket within the Leeward Islands.
The appointed Development Officers (D.O’s) are Mr. Pernel Watley of Antigua, who is responsible for Antigua and Montserrat, Mr. Cardigan Connor of Anguilla, responsible for Anguilla and St. Marten, Mr. Charlie Jackson of BVI, responsible for BVI and USVI and Junie Mitcham of St.Kitts, responsible for St. Kitts and Nevis, who will oversee the overall development throughout the Leeward Islands.
Mitcham said it’s an honor and privilege to be entrusted with such responsibility in an esteem position that has been bestowed upon him by L.I.C.A and W.I.C.B, in charting the way forward for the further development and advancement of Leeward Islands Cricket.
I am aware that such an esteemed position do comes with high expectation, much responsibility and accountability, which I also know would not be an easy task, however I am positively looking forward to the challenge, and in doing so seek to make a significant contribution.
Mitcham said he has taken up the responsibility as T.D.O at a time when the present status of Leeward Islands Cricket is at a disappointing and unacceptable low for varied reasons, however I am place in a unique and vitally important position to help make a significant contribution towards Leeward Islands Cricket and its present and future cricketers further development and advancement.
However this would only be possible through a total collaborative effort amongst all board members, coaches, players and other stakeholders.
