Grass Roots inter Cluster Matches

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, December 21st 2012 - On Saturday 15th December, the West Indies’ Cricket Board Grass Roots Cricket Program, conducted their end of quarter inter cluster matches, these matches seek to give the coaches an ideal opportunity to assess the players to see how they have develop over the period of coaching they would have gotten, also an opportunity for the coaches to assess themselves.

     

    In the first match Sandy Point defeated Basseterre. Scores in the match were Sandy Point batting first made 143 for 5 off 15 overs, Rasheed eddy made 51 retired, Viandre Edwards 21

     

    Bowling for Basseterre Aljani Dunrod got 1 for 21 and Beres Wilkinson got 1 for 30.

     

    When Basseterre batted they made 113 for 2 off 15 over's. Jaheel Clarke made 36 and Aljani Dunrod made 18.
    Bowling for Sandy Point Zeshan Rawlins got 1 for 9 and Javid Bryan 2 for 8.

     

    In the second match Sandy Point Came up against St. Pails. St. Paul's batting first made 95 for 6 off their allotted 15 over's, Kizane David made 14 and Maverick Morris made 13.

     

    Bowling for Sandy Point, leg spinner Kabris Warner got 2 for 27, Zeshan Rawlins 1 for 9, Rashid Rogers 1 for 15, Rasheed Eddy 1 for 17 and Viandre Edwards 1 for 19.

     

    Sandy Point in reply made 97 for 1 off 13 over's. Rasheed Eddy made 39 and Viandre Edwards made 37.

     

    Bowling for St. Paul's Sumchan Hardhat took 1 for 17. Sandy Point won by 9 wickets.

     

    At the end of the games players were awarded in the various categories:

     

    Most outstanding Batsman: Rasheed Eddy for Sandy Point:, for Kizane David St. Paul’s: and f Jaheel Clarke or Basseterre.

     

    Most Outstanding Bowlers: Zeshan Rawlins for Sandy Point, Sumchan Hardhat for St. Paul's, and Brendan Brookes for Basseterre.

     

    Most outstanding Fielders: Viandre Edwards for Sandy Point, Maverick Morris for St. Paul's; and Aljani Dunrod for Basseterre.

     

    Most outstanding Wicket Keeper: Javid Bryan for Sandy Point, Azande Douglas for St. Paul’s and Jaheel Clarke for Basseterre.

     

    Most outstanding overall players were: Rasheed Eddy for Sandy Point, Kizane David for St. Paul's, and Jaheel Clarke for Basseterre.

     

    The Territorial Development Officer, Mr. Junie Mitcham said he was most pleased with the level of discipline and self control the participants displayed on and off the field. Mitcham said amongst the seventy plus participants there were quiet a few players who showed good talent and ability in the various areas, Batting, Bowling, Fielding, Wicket keeping and also good decision making in situations when the game got challenging. Mitcham went on to say with the amount of talented and skilled players he saw it should create a greater desire for the coaches to continue motivating and developing these players talent and skills.
