Shoeshine among 6 charged with drugs possession

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SIX individuals were charged with possession of illegal drugs and among them is the popular Milton ‘Shoeshine’ Phipps of Mad House Alley in Basseterre.

     

    According to a police release, Phipps was charged with possession of crack cocaine; an offence he allegedly committed on Thursday (Dec. 6).

     

    Also charged with possession of crack cocaine is Trevon Rogers of Sandy Point. Police claimed that he committed the offence on Monday (Dec. 10).

     

    The other four individuals charged are Emris Forbes of Upper Shaw Avenue, Basseterre; Kevin Chapman of Brown Pasture, Nevis; Jarez Underwood of West Bourne Ghaut, Basseterre; and Garfield Chapman of Buckley's Estate.

     

    Forbes was charged with two counts of possession of cannabis and obstruction under the Drug Act.

     

    The first two offences were allegedly committed on Tuesday (Nov. 13) and the second offences at Upper Thibou Avenue, Basseterre on Monday (Dec. 10).

     

    Kevin Chapman was charged with possession of cannabis which was allegedly committed on Monday (Dec. 10), while Underwood was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and importation of cannabis into the Federation, which were allegedly committed on Wednesday (Dec. 19).

     

    According to a release from the Public Relations Unit of the St. Kitts and Nevis Customs Department, Underwood was charged by the Customs and Excise under Section 116 of the Customs (Control and Management) Act with the importation of a restricted good under the laws of St. Kitts and Nevis.

     

    It also stated that he was “found to be in possession of a vegetable substance that was suspected to be cannabis. The item has since been verified as the same”.

     

    The release further stated that the cannabis was being imported in a package being cleared by Underwood at the Ralphford James Merchant Customs Courier Facility in Bird Rock, Basseterre on Monday (Dec. 17).

     

    And Garfield Chapman was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and cultivation, allegedly committed on Wednesday (Dec.19).

     

    Three individuals were charged with house breaking and larceny and a fourth one with larceny.

     

    Tanja Fyfield of Shadwell Estate; Marcus ‘Max’ Mills and Analdo ‘Nandy’ Browne, both of Rawlins Pasture in Nevis were charged with house breaking and larceny, while Mc Laren Pemberton of New Road was charged with larceny.

     

    Fyfield allegedly committed the offences between September and November 2012, while Mills and Browne allegedly jointly committed the offences in Rawlins Pasture between November 5 and 26, 2012. Mills is also facing an ammunition-related charge, which he was said to have had in his possession on Thursday (Dec. 6).

     

    And Pemberton is said to have committed the offence at TDC on Saturday (Dec. 8).

     

    Jamal Pemberton of Tabernacle was also charged but for the offence of receiving, which he allegedly committed between November 9 and December 8, 2012.
