CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - AS the voters’ registration confirmation process came to a close on Saturday at midday, former Legal Adviser of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) Theodore Hobson complained that the exercise has been compromised.

Hobson, a member of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) executive body spoke to SKNVibes outside the Electoral Office on Saturday and said the voters’ registration confirmation process had been “abused and compromised”.

The former Legal Adviser said his party may challenge in court what he claimed as irregularities.

“I would have preferred a new count of voters where officials make home visits as it is done during census,’ Hobson said. He also said there ought to have been neutral monitors inside the electoral offices.

Seemingly comfortable with the process, Nevis Reformation Party’s (NRP) activists and operatives, when interviewed, said voters had come out in large numbers in the last minute to exercise their rights.

Except for the complaints by the CCM’s officials and activists, the voters’ registration confirmation process ended without any incidents on Saturday, and the crowd was not as large as a few days earlier.

Ethelyn Tyson, a mother of three who waited patiently until her turn came, said she votes out of love for her country and believes her vote could help shape her children’s future.
