Castries, St Lucia – Cricket lovers in St Lucia got the chance to secure their favourite seats as ticket sales for the Caribbean T20 tournament started on the island on Thursday.

With prices are as low as EC$15 for the first round; EC$20 for the play-off; and EC$25 for the Final, organisers believe this will create great demand. Fans can make purchases at the Castries Ticket Office on Jeremie Street – opposite Old Fire Station.

The other ticket office at Beausejour Cricket Stadium will open from Monday, January 7. These two ticket offices will open from 9 am on weekdays. As part of the promotion for Caribbean T20 2013, children under age 16 accompanied by an adult purchasing a full price ticket, will be admitted free.

Cindy McLean, the Caribbean T20 Event Manager, said the systems are already in place and there are great expectations in St Lucia as the island prepares to host the Caribbean T20 for the first time.

“The early signs are that there is a great demand for tickets. This is the first time the tournament will be played on the island and people on the street are talking about the matches,” McLean said.

“Our fans are of utmost importance to us and we want the supporters in the stands to be happy, so we have put everything in place to make sure the spectators enjoy every moment of their experience. Cricket-lovers in the Caribbean are passionate about the game and they will get great value for money.”

McLean added: “We have received great assistance from the governments of Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia; the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board; the St Lucia National Cricket Association; as well as the local organising committees who have worked tirelessly to put everything in place. We are also delighted that several other stakeholders have made major contributions to the tournament – with The Saint Lucia Tourist Board on board as the an Official Tourist Board for CT20 2013.

“The start at Queen’s Park Oval is just a few days away, and I can say already the sales have been very good. We expect maximum entertainment on the field for the large crowds who will attend the matches. We want to ensure that everyone who wants a ticket can get one.”

The Caribbean T20 starts on Sunday with a showdown between defending champions Trinidad & Tobago and last year’s losing finalists Jamaica at Queen’s Park Oval. Matches will be played in Trinidad from Sunday, to Saturday, January 12. The event then moves to St Lucia for the second phase at Beausejour Cricket Stadium from Tuesday, January 15 to Sunday, January 20.
