C&C Christmas Promotion ends with dozens of cheerful customers

Aneudy Skelton - winner of the one minute shopping spree
Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 14th 2013 - His accent may not have been perfect, but his gratefulness for winning C&C’s one minute shopping spree could not be questioned.  When Mr Aneudy Skelton turned up on  the Saturday before Christmas to redeem his winnings, he meant business.  Accompanied by his fiancée and their two toddler children he was seen scouting the aisles with the items that he was most interested in.  He knew what he wanted and wasted no time when he received the countdown to begin. At the end of the sixty seconds spree, his cart was bursting at the seams mostly with washing detergent and rice.

A customer of the supermarket for three years, he declared that he had made C&C his supermarket of choice ever since he relocated to St. Kitts  from the Dominican Republic.  “I think you guys have the best prices and I find your staff friendly,” was his response to why he chose to do business with the establishment.

The one minute shopping spree was one of the favourite items on C&C’s Christmas table for the six week promotion period which started in mid November.  Over the ensuing weeks, lucky shoppers won food hampers, gift baskets of toiletries and brands exclusive to C&C Trading.  As the winners turned up for their prizes they all confessed to never winning before.

Interestingly, an equal number of male and female shoppers won food hampers, perhaps suggesting that men play an important role in domestic decision-making these days.  One of the male shoppers, Anderson Hobson was also a Nevis customer who shops at the Bay Road supermarket.

The best was yet to come when the final three customers – selected exclusively based on their spend for the period mid November to the end of December were announced as the grand prize winners.  In keeping with the previously-established trend of an equal ratio of male to female winners, Mr Desmond Pemberton topped the grand prize list.  For this he received a 100 lb bottle cooking gas, one free vehicle service and an AVON gift basket.  Two Newtown residents and long-time patrons of the supermarket – Albertine Nero and Shelly Tota won the second and third prizes respectively.  In combination, their prizes include cooking gas, free car rentals and AVON gift baskets.

“We hope that our grandprize winners and indeed all of the winners in this promotion enjoy their prizes.  Relative to the main prizes we wanted to be practical with what we offered our customers since items like cooking gas is a commodity which everyone uses,” explained Laverne Caines at the in-store presentation to the winners.  She said that even the prize of free vehicle service could save a customer several hundred dollars and on top of that ensure extra trouble-free mileage.  “We believe that our customers also appreciated the selection of prizes based on their feedback with our staff which only added to the momentum of the promotion over the Christmas season,” she concluded.

The C&C group of companies take this opportunity to extend wishes for a most successful New Year to all of its customers and thanks them for their unfailing support over the last twelve months.
