BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE curtains will come down on Teachers Week tomorrow with members of the teaching fraternity marching through the streets of Basseterre and ending with a Rally at Independence Square.
The march, which begins at 9:00 a.m. from the Basseterre High School, will see youth groups and PTA members from various schools island-wide joining the teachers for the special occasion.
Upon arrival at Independence Square, the marchers will be addressed by the President of the Teachers Union, Clyde Christopher; the Minister of Education, the Hon. Sam Condor; and General Manager of Home Mortgages at ECCB, Analdo Bailey.
Also on the schedule are poetic presentations, modelling and calypso song performances about teachers and teaching.
A bounce castle will be erected to entertain the younger children and food and drink will be available to all at a special bar.
Christopher stated that tomorrow’s activities would be very interactive and he is pleased with the response that the week’s previous activities had generated. ~~Adz:Right~~
“The response to the activities has been phenomenal. It’s great to see that people want to come out and participate. It’s a march of solidarity, a march in which we want to show the value and respect that we have for one another.”
