BASSETERR, St. Kitts –IN keeping with worldwide celebration of Credit Union Day (October 16), the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. (SKCCU) has launched a week of activities with the aim of sensitising the general public to the services provided by the company.

Held under the theme “My Credit Union, it belongs to me”, the activities began on Sunday (Oct. 12) with a church service for staff and partners at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church.

SKCCU will also be hosting a Membership Appreciation Day on Thursday, October 16 where all members and patrons would receive the usual top-notch service along with refreshments.

On Friday, (Oct. 17) the company is expected to host a health fair and exhibition in the Independence Square, Basseterre, where members can get free tests for blood sugar and blood pressure levels. The business partners will be exhibiting their products and services as they aim to educate and inform the public of their services.

General Manager, Sheryl Bass told SKNVibes that the theme was chosen to remind its customers/members that the credit union is owned by its 13,000-plus members.

~~Adz:Right~~“Our services,” she informed, “have been founded on a key set of operative principles - a democratic structure which allows open voluntary membership; service to members, as the credit union is set up so as to meet the needs of its members; focus on our social goals to educate our members through financial counselling and services especially improving the way they spend.”

Bass also mentioned a special ground-breaking ceremony scheduled for the Credit Union’s ‘Scenic Homes’ Housing Development situated at Douglas Estate, St. Peters [below CLICO Housing Development]  which covers over 25 acres of land and is expected to accommodate over 190 homes.

“We are providing housing alternatives to our members to remove the hassles of home ownership. We want to give them a ‘turn- key’ where the members make the initial preparations and we will take care of the rest.”

Bass further informed that the week is expected to see the launch of  the company’s Christmas Loan Promotion which allows members to borrow up to EC$5,000 without making an initial deposit. She declared that anyone who turns out to support the events can look forward to the typical “excellent customer service which is second to none”.
