SKNABA Junior Division weekend highlights Trotters plays back to back

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 10th, 2013 – In game one of Saturday Jay Hawks, formerly known as Blue Devils came up against new entry Kajola Kristada McKnight Tortters.

     

    Jay Hawks defeated Trotters 61 – 53. Norris Williams had an impressive game, penetrating the center and rebounding like there was no tomorrow accumulating 31 points and 26 rebounds, his teammates Cheslyn Hutton and Isaiah Christopher both attained 12 points, 11 rebounds, 7 points, 2 rebounds, respectively, Jay Hawks was coached by Calbert Dore and assisted by Kenroy ‘Romel’ Tobais who seeks to mentor and groom the young coach in leading the team this year.

     

    Trotters top scorers for the evening were Wasim Pemberton, 19 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 5 of 10 free throws made, Rasheed Moore, 15 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 8 of 13 free throws made and Khanu Vanterpool, 7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 of 2 free throws made.

     

    Game 2 showcased 2012 Champions Development Bank Ballers verses iRepChallengers Exodus Jrs. Ballers won the game 79 – 57, Cajim Morris a recent transfer from the National Bank Bird Rock Uprisers Jrs. scored 28 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 7 steals his teammates Geron Elliot scored 22 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and made 3 of 7 free throws and Center Cedrin Williams recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 blocks and made 3 of 6 free throws.

     

    Ballers finishing the 2012 season on a high point have brought that experience and confidence to this year’s competition, Coach Enist ‘Maggie’ Parris, however feels her team is still developing and forever improving on their style of play. Top Scorers for Challengers Exodus Jrs. are Jedarnie Browne, 27 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 6 of 10 free throws made Javier Sutton 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 10 blocks, 0 of 0 free throws made and Antonio Warner: 7 points, 8 rebounds. Jerdarnie Browne led his team and ensured his team kept it together despite the loss.

     

    Sunday 10th February, Kajola Kristada McKnight Trotters came out refreshed and ready to play notwithstanding playing and losing to Jay Hawks on Saturday. They defeated Rams Sandy Point Fruta Falcons 52 – 49. McKnight Trotters held a lead of 8 points at halftime. #7 Dajal Kelly, scrappy style held off the Falcons advances and was instrumental in forcing turnover after turnover. Top scorers for Trotters were Wasim Pemberton, 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steal and 9 of 14 free throws made,

     

    Rasheed Moore:,13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 7 of 10 free throws made and Kemitri Morton, 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, 5 of 8 free throws made. Fruta Falcons were not to be counted out; the onetime 5 peat champions brought the score back and took the lead in the 3rd quarter. Coach Bucsky Crossley said his guys had gotten rid of their butterflies and were ready for the game.

     

    Top scorers for Fruta Falcons are Elroy Huggins 17 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 6 steals, 6 of 14 free throws made, De Jaan Grant 17 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals, 5 of 11 free throws made and Nicholas Matthew: 7 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 blocks. In the last seconds of the games it was Trotters however who came out on top.

     

    The score was tied at 49 points and #34 Kemitri Morton hit a magnificent (3) three point shot to seal the deal; Sandy Point pressed and scored but unfortunately fouled Raheem Moore who made 1 of his 2 free throws and closed the game with a three point lead. In related news the game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. National Bank Bird Rock Uprisers vs. Rams Hitters Jrs. has been postponed. The Junior Division continues on Tuesday 12th February at 6:30 p.m. Development Bank Ballers vs. Molinuex Strivers and at 8:00 p.m. iRep Challengers Exodus vs. Achievers Sport Club Jay Hawks.
