St.  Lucian civil servants receive millions in back pay, salary hike

CASTRIES, St. Lucia – BEGINNING today (Oct. 23), civil servants in St. Lucia will receive EC$25M in back pay and salary increases.According to Caribbean 360, Prime Minister Stephen King has stated that the move was taken to help citizens cope in the current economic climate.

“For the first time in the history of this country, this government has approved for the public servants a 14 percent increase in their salaries and wages.

We gave it to them because we understand the plight the people of this country are in,” he said.
In addition to the percentage increase in salaries and wages, daily paid workers will each receive a bonus of EC$500.
