BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE promise that was made by the Ministry of Public Works has been fulfilled, as the run-down bridge which connects Lower Market Street to Greenlands has finally been repaired, allowing persons to traverse safely through the area.

Residents had voiced concerns at the state of the bridge, calling frequently for the government to replace or repair it.

According to Elvis ‘Jam Down’ Manners, the bridge had fallen into an unsuitable condition and he had been appealing to the

Minister of Public Works, Dr. the Hon. Asim Martin, since 2000 to pave the area in which the bridge is situated.

SKNVibes had previously spoken to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Oaklyn Peets, who reassured that the bridge would be fixed by Wednesday, October 22 or no later than the end of that week.

There is uncertainty as to the exact time that the bridge was repaired; however, SKNVibes observed that it was fixed no later than Thursday, October 23.

Attempts to contact Peets for a comment on the restored status of the bridge were futile
