BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE owner of a popular local barbershop opened for business today (Oct. 31) and was surprised to see that a number of his tools of trade was missing.
Dion Browne arrived at his Rosemary Lane Reliable Barber Salon at approximately 6:40 a.m. and found it in total disarray, with trash and paraphernalia strewn across the floor. According to the proprietor, an estimated EC$3 000 worth of merchandise was stolen, including a flat-screen television, a microwave, a new electrical clipper, a stock of drinks and the contents of his petty cash drawer.
Police arrived shortly before 7:00 a.m. and ascertained that the perpetrator(s) entered through the balcony’s door, as there was damage to its lock.
Despite the incident, Reliable Barber Salon was open for business today and Browne was upbeat in interview, stating that “the most important things were not taken [his other electrical clippers and his chairs], so the vehicle for making money is still here”.
In response to who could be a possible suspect, Browne said “everyone is a suspect”.
He also demonstrated scepticism about anyone being apprehended.
“If the police can’t catch murderers they can’t catch thieves,” he said.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
