Pedophile Pastor receives ten-year prison sentence

~~Adz:Left~~ BRIDGETOWN, Barbados-FORMER televangelist Dr. Jippy Doyle, who served as pastor for numerous churches, was recently sentenced to serve ten years in Her Majesty’s Prison for having “unlawful sexual intercourse” with a then thirteen-year-old girl in 2001.

Doyle was reportedly subdued as Justice Margaret Reifer read the sentence.

“This case is about the betrayal of trust and confidence. [The girl] was 13 years old at the time and she was entitled to have faith and trust in her reverend,” the judge said. “Her mother should have been safe in the belief that her children were safe and protected in your care.”

According to The Barbados Nation, a number of Doyle’s supporters who have claimed his innocence from the beginning of the trial showed up outside the court to protest his sentencing.

“Are you clearing the way for the king?” The Nation reported one of the followers saying to the officers assigned to barricade control around the court house.

According to the prosecution, the thirteen-year-old was a member of Doyle’s congregation and Doyle used a bag of candy and $20 to lure the girl into privacy before sexually assaulting her.
 
Lead defence lawyer Sir Richard Cheltenham attempted to plead Doyle’s sentence down to one of “maximum community service” under the claim that he had “suffered greatly” waiting for the case to go to trial for the past seven years.

Doyle refused to comment to reporters as he was led away from the courtroom and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
