    POLICE/COURT ROUND UP

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man accused of “shooting with intent” is among the list of persons recently arrested and charged and are expected to appear before a court of law shortly.

     

    A group of young men consisting of Calvin Samuel of Belle Vue and Glenville ‘Babble’ Elliot, Sylvester ‘Goofy’ Kelly, Vere Harvey, Keithroy Harvey and Melvina Kelly of Saddlers Village was arrested and charged for “causing malicious damage” said to have been committed on November 2, 2008. They were arrested and charged on November 5, 2008.

     

    Saddlers Villager Jamoy Warner was on November 5, 2008 arrested and charged for “shooting with intent”, which, according to police, was committed on October 19, 2008.

     

    Lower Shadwell Housing resident Rudolph Jacobs was arrested and charged with an October 20, 2008 offence of “wounding”.

     

    “Wounding with intent” was the offence for which Kadin Jeffers of New Road, St. Peters was arrested and charged. According to police, the offence was committed on October 3, 2008.

     

    On November 5, 2008, Shadwell Housing resident Roy Wilkerson was arrested and charged with one count of “wounding with intent”, which is said to have been committed on September 26, 2008.
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS

     

    While four individuals who appeared before one of the Federation’s Magistrate’s Courts were issued with fines that are to be paid within specified times, one of them was sentenced to serve time in prison.

     

    ~~Adz:Right~~Tabernacle resident Crispin went before the court having been charged with one count of “wounding” committed on October 12, 2008. He was convicted and sentenced to serve two months imprisonment at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    After being convicted of “possession of cannabis”, Keith Rodriguez of Craddock Road, Nevis was ordered to pay $1 500 within three months and, if he fails to do so, he will be required to serve a six-month prison sentence.
     
    A $1 000 fine was imposed on Akeem Bryan of Newton Ground Village as punishment for committing a July 15, 2008 offence of “beating” fellow Newton Ground resident Javel Whittaker. The sum is to be paid within four months or, if in default, serve one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    Within six months, Duan Grant of Clay Ghaut has to pay a $1 000 fine imposed upon him after conviction of “driving without due care and attention”. A six-month custodial sentence would be imposed if he fails to pay the sum within the prescribed time.

     

    After being convicted of one count of “wounding”, Irvin Allen of Church Ground, Nevis was fined $800 which is to be paid within three months or, if in default, serve three months imprisonment.
