    Mr. O’mari Browne

The Awardee was born in St. Kitts on the 12 October 1980 to George & Ramona Brown. He had an average childhood and didn’t have much health or other challenges. He attended the Salvation Army School and the Seventh Day Adventist Primary, where he was valedictorian of his graduating class.

He then went on to the Junior High School and the Basseterre High School. In 1997 he sat his CXC exams from which he passed all 8 subjects attempted with 4 distinctions.

In 1999 he sat and passed 2 subjects at A level at the C.F.B College. Throughout his primary and secondary school years O’mari was an active youth as he was a member of the Newtown scout group, the under twenty club (Youth Advocacy Movement),local member of an Anti Drug Counseling Group of U.S. Origin P.R.I.D.E. (Parent Resource Institute for Drug Education) and a founding Youth Parliamentarian.

In 2004, he sought within himself to define his career field. Being employed part time in his father’s security company as administrative support he found the field interesting and ventured to gain more information as to where the possible career opportunities lie. He researched information on courses and training that could assist him in furthering his education in the security industry.

“I found that security was not just about guards and watchmen” He said. “Especially since 9/11 the industry has really grown and diversified”.  That same year, he attended a course in the state of Kentucky and was trained as an Electronic Access Control technician.

In 2005 he revisited Kentucky and was trained as locksmith, later that year on his third visit he was trained as a comprehensive security specialist. He then attained the designation as a Security Management Coordinator from the Blue Grass Technical College.

He also simultaneously received a Diploma from Canyon College as a Certified Security Manager. Kentucky was his stop for a 4th visit to do a course in automotive locks. In late 2005 he ventured on his own and to start his own business. “It was hard at the start but I stuck with it because I loved it he said.

~~Adz:Right~~There have been many days with out work, but you have to be into the career deeply to survive those times.”  2006 was a better year with the name of his business spreading and his work being recommended. He designed, supplied and installed a surveillance system for the first test match held at Warner Park.

In 2007 he was again chosen to provide video surveillance but this time for the CWC ICC matches. After this accomplishment he never relaxed he has done work for local and regional companies such as Stanford Development. He has provided security equipment for use during the National Carnival and Music Festival.

The awardee has never settled for less and continues to strive for even greater things. He recently started his bachelor’s degree in Security Management with an online university.

In December 2007 he heralded the opening of his office, store front display and operations center in Newtown, Basseterre offering a wide range of security products and services. This he says is just the start of better things to come.

“I am going to put St. Kitts and my name on the map” he said and has already started that quest by being the only member of The American Society for Industrial Security International (ASIS) and the Associated Locksmith of America (ALOA).

He has always been associated with youth and social groups from his childhood days till the present. He said that he is always willing to give a helping hand or word to a youth, but said that they have to want to help themselves. He said “I soon hope to start an after school program to help kids with their problematic subjects”.

I also look forward to starting a foundation to assist persons to transition from one point of life to the next”. With all this said who more fitting to be an awardee for a youth entrepreneur award? He is the Managing Director of Liamuiga Security & Lock Hed Security, Mr. O’mari P. Browne, S.M.C (Security Management Coordinator)
