                                 NEIT representative to meet with BVI students and officials

    ~~Adz:Right~~ Roadtown, Tortola -
    Director of International Admissions at the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) Mr. Mark Seltzer will be in the Territory from November 10 to 14 to meet with Government officials and prospective students.

     

    Mr. Seltzer was originally scheduled to visit the Territory in October but due to Hurricane Omar his visit was rescheduled.  While in the Territory, Mr. Seltzer will meet with Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Andrew Fahie, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Sheila Brathwaite, Chief Training Officer Mrs. Pearlette Dawson and Vice President of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) Dr. Karl Dawson.

     

    He will hold an open meeting for prospective students of the institution on Tuesday, November 11 at the Central Administration Building, Conference Room #2 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.  Anyone interested in learning more about NEIT is welcome to attend.

     

    On Wednesday, November 12 and Thursday, November 13 Mr. Seltzer will make presentations at the Elmore Stoutt High School, St. George’s High School, BVI Seventh Day Adventist School, Cedar School and the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division, respectively.

     

    Mr. Seltzer will hold an open house at HLSCC on Thursday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m.

     

    Twelve of the 17 students who graduated this year from NEIT are recipients of Government’s scholarship programme.  Ten students, who are beneficiaries of Government’s scholarship programme, are currently studying at NEIT in the areas of Information Technology, Architectural Building Engineering, Marine Technology, Automotive Technology and Electrical Engineering. 

     

    Through its scholarship programme, Government continues to invest in education in order to create a trained human resource base that is employable, easily retainable and adaptable to the rapidly changing demands of the job market.

     

    NEIT, which is based in Rhode Island, USA is a 60-year-old institution accredited by the certification board of the New England Schools and Colleges. With 22 programmes available, approximately 2,600 students from 27 countries attend the institute.
