    POLICE/COURT ROUND UP

    ~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE majority of persons arrested over the past few days were charged with offences of a violent nature.

     

    Bouncing Hill, Sandy Point resident Colleen Duncan was arrested and charged with a November 15, 2008 offence of “wounding” while Lower Cayon resident Andrew Govia was arrested and charged with a November 14, 2008 offence of “wounding”.

     

    Mackline Hendrickson, a resident of Old Road, was arrested and charged for a wounding offence. Police have informed that the offence was committed on November 7, 2008.

     

    Another Old Road resident, Ricaldo Pemberton, was arrested and charged with one count of wounding. The offence was reportedly committed on November 14, 2008.

     

    For a September 26, 2008 offence of “wounding with intent”, Trafalgar Village resident Kimo Flemming was arrested and charged.

     

    A November 5, 2008 offence of “wounding with intent” was what Kadin Jeffers of New Road, St. Peters Parish was charged with.

     

    “Assault with intent to rob” was the offence preferred against a Ponds Pasture juvenile. The offence, according to the authorities, was committed on October 27, 2008.

     

    Emmette Lambert of Mc Knight was arrested and charged with one count each “battery on police”, “obstruction”, “carrying abroad an offensive weapon” and “resisting arrest”. 

     

    Gilbert Gordon, an inhabitant of West Farm, was arrested and charged with one count of “making use of threatening language” which was committed on August 16, 2008.

     

    “Larceny” was the offence for which Basseterre resident Eslie Lewis was arrested and charged.  Police have indicated that the offence was committed on November 10, 2008, while Wendell Peets, also of the Basseterre area, was also charged with “larceny”, an offence which the police informed was committed on October 31, 2008.

     

    Saddlers Villager Keston Matthew was arrested and charged with one count of “possession of cannabis”.~~Adz:Right~~

     

    COURT CONVICTIONS

     

    A Sandy Point inhabitant was recently sentenced to prison after being convicted of a violent crime.

     

    Chino Evans of The Alley, appeared before one of the Federation’s Magistrate’s Courts for the offence of “wounding” St. Pauls resident Edward Phillip. He was sentenced to serve four months at Her Majesty’s Prison for the March 8, 2008 offence.

     

    Meanwhile, others who appeared before the courts were convicted of the offences brought against them and were punished accordingly.

     

    Saddlers Village duo Sylvester Kelly and Calvin Samuel stood before the District “A” Magistrate Court on a charge of “malicious damage” and, upon conviction, were fined $1 000 each to be paid within four months or serve six months imprisonment. The men were also ordered to pay compensation in respective sums of $1 200 and $800.

     

    The offence was committed on November 2, 2008.

     

    For the offences of “careless driving” and “failing to remain at the scene of an accident”, Lorenzo Herbert, a resident of St. Pauls, was convicted. He was fined $600 on the first count and was severely cautioned on the second count. The offences were committed at New Guinea on February 22, 2008.

     

    The sum is to be paid within three months or, if in default, Herbert will have to serve a two-week custodial sentence.

     

    A juvenile of Taylors Village was placed on a six-month probationary period after being convicted of one count of “building breaking and larceny”. The offence was committed on August 26, 2008.  During the probationary period, the 15-year-old would have to “keep the peace and be of good behaviour”.

     

    After conviction of “making use of indecent language”, Tabernacle Villager Jermaine Carey was fined $300 which it to be paid within one month or serve a 14-day prison term.
