BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- St. Kitts’ Warner Park has been chosen to host the opening matches of the 2009 Digicel Home Series between England and the West Indies which was originally scheduled to begin in Barbados.

Arriving in the Federation on January 21, England will begin their week with a series of net sessions from the 22-24.

Those practice sessions will be followed by the first warm-up matches of England’s three and a half month tour, which St. Kitts XI will have the honour of participating in from January 25-27.

Following a one day break, the highlight matches of the St. Kitts visit will take place from January 29-31as England battles West Indies A in a three day first-class match.

Upon leaving the Federation, England will then head to Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana and St. Lucia before returning home to England on April 4.

The West Indies Cricket Board has lauded the tour as a chance for the people of the Caribbean to once again see World Cup quality cricket being played at their home venues, particularly during the various Test matches, the Digicel Twenty20 International in Trinidad and the five Digicel One-Day Internationals.
