    Supreme Court to host mediation Training Workshop

     



    ~~Adz:Right~~ Roadtown, Tortola - The Supreme Court in collaboration with the Judicial Educational Institute of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) will be hosting a Mediation Training Workshop in the Territory from December 1-5 at the court  located upstairs the House of Assembly Building.

     

    The purpose of the workshop is to increase the cadre of trained certified mediators. 

    Ms. Deborah Mendez Bowen, Alternative Dispute Resolution Consultant and Director of the Institute for Dispute Resolution in Trinidad and Tobago and Mr. Francis Compton, Mediation Coordinator of the ECSC will facilitate the workshop.

     

    Persons interested in attending the workshop should submit a written application to the Registrar at the High Court Registry which is located upstairs the Post Office on #84 Main Street or  contact Mrs. Michelle Mc Lean, Deputy Mediation Coordinator at 494-3492 for further details.   Written applications can also be submitted to the email address highcourtregistry@yahoo.com.  Applications can be collected from the High Court Registry.

     

    The deadline for the submission of names is Wednesday, November 26. An attendance fee of $250, which covers course materials, lunch and refreshments, will be charged to all participants.  The deadline for fee submission is Friday, November 28 payable at the High Court Registry Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

     

    Mediation is a confidential negotiation process in which an impartial third party helps the disputing parties to resolve their differences in an amicable manner. The programme is designed to help parties involved in civil litigation attempt to settle their cases before they get to trial.
