BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OWNER of Leyton Microcomputer Services Carol Ottley-Mitchell is taking a break from the realm of software development to test new waters in the launching of her first book entitled ‘Adventure at Brimstone Hill’.

The launch is scheduled to take place at the Old Treasury Building on Wednesday, November 26.

As stated by a press release, the book is the first instalment of the Caribbean Adventure Series created by Ottley-Mitchell for young readers.

Children of all ages can enjoy the delightful and fun-packed collection which aims to teach them the background of various historical sites around the region.

According to Ottley-Mitchell, the books allowed her to combine her love for the Caribbean with a passion for helping young minds learn about their history and culture.

“The books are about three West Indian children who have adventures in the past that lead them to discover their history.

The first one is set at the Brimstone Hill National Fortress Park in St. Kitts, where they wander down a tunnel in search of a pet monkey and find themselves in the past and in the middle of an exciting, historical battle at sea between the British and the French,” she revealed.

She also noted the importance of reading, calling it “a key part of our children’s development”, and confessed that becoming a mother really gave her the courage to write as she realised there was so much about her island’s culture and history that was disappearing.

“My children love to read and I thought this would be a great way of sharing some of my favourite experiences of living on St. Kitts and in other parts of the Caribbean.   ~~Adz:Right~~

“I love Brimstone Hill! It is a wonderful site and a place that makes me feel at peace. Future books will send Mark, his monkey Chee Chee and his friends around the Caribbean,” said Ottley-Mitchell.

She promised that the series would set children’s imagination on fire and is encouraging parents to buy it as a Christmas gift.
