BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 26TH 2008 (CUOPM) –Minister of Public Works, Utilities, Posts and Transport, Dr. the Hon. Earl Asim Martin has asked the management of the Electricity Department for a comprehensive report on the on-going electricity challenges within one week.

For the second time in as many weeks, Dr. Martin brought his senior team of electrical engineers to the Cabinet to report first-hand on the ongoing challenges on Monday.

“The Chief Electrical Engineer, Mr. John Channer, emphasised that there were ongoing human challenges at the power station.

He added, however, that the system protection equipment whose installation is soon to be completed should drastically buffer the system from human action or inaction.

The Chief Electrical Engineer assured the Cabinet that the outages were not as a result of inadequate generation capacity,” said Minister of State for Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty.  ~~Adz:Right~~

He said that Dr Martin has directed that the Department Heads along with their consulting engineer, Mr. Simon Musson to prepare within the next week a comprehensive report on the technical and non-technical challenges, on the generation as well as transmission side, along with recommendations for the swift resolution of all of the major issues.
