Peter Jenkins for president

Peter Jenkins
Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 25th, 2013   --  Former and well respected head coach of Guyana Shabazz has Endorses Peter Jenkins in SKNFA Presidency

"Peter Jenkins is needed in football not just as the President of St. Kitts & Nevis Football Association but even at Caribbean and regional levels too."

This is the feeling of Trinidadian Jamaal Shabazz, one of the more respected coaches in the Caribbean.

"I have known Peter Jenkins since 1997 when I was CONCACAF Press Officer and I always felt he was one of the more visionary football administrators in the region, stated Shabazz.

"He is one of the few presidents in Caribbean football, who focused primarily on the football of the field and approached his task with a sense of long term development.

Shabazz who coached Guyana to the semi final round of the Concacaf Qualifiers of the FIFA 2014 World Cup feels that Jenkins is one of the few administrators in the region who truly recognized his role in the football equation.

"Jenkins is one in a chosen few who understands that it is the football of the field that gives any relevance to the need for a football administration and a football office.

"This is a man that would attend youth clinics on a weekend such is his interest in what happens in the football of the field. And I can testify to the development program that he initiated which produced players like Atiba Harris and those who historically qualified St. Kitts and Nevis to the 2007 COncacaf U 20 finals, stated Shabazz.

Shabazz sees Jenkins as a man with a critical role to play in Caribbean football as well.

"Peter Jenkins is one of the few men who stood up to Jack Warner on principle. He suffered for it but had he been in the CFU in 2011, Jenkins would not have allowed CFU to get into that scandal.

"Truth be told Jenkins would have been a dissenting voice for principle in that CFU meeting and I feel there was not enough Peter Jenkins' in the Jack Warner era insisted Shabazz.

    Explaining further Shabazz said:

"He is not a yes man but neither was he an obstructionist but he kept Warner and the CFU on their toes and on many issues his principles forced him to stand alone in CFU meetings.

"The Caribbean needs a Peter Jenkins in its football administration again so I am very happy to hear him contesting the presidency for St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association.

"He has my total and unequivocal endorsement, ended Shabazz.
