    Ramie Gumbs et al on trial for robberies…

    ~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOUR young men, Jamal Parris, Karim Dickenson, Ramie Gumbs and Devon Wattley, are currently standing trial at the Basseterre High Court of Justice for a number of larceny-related charges.

     

    They are each charged with four counts of robbery, two counts of assault with intent to rob and Gumbs was slapped with an additional charge of “having a firearm in possession with intent to endanger life”.

     

    The men are accused of robbing four individuals with the use of “personal force” and stealing from them a combined total of some $4 570 as well as one Motorola cellular telephone, one play station and four play station games, a watch and a radio/cassette recorder. They are also accused of assaulting two other individuals with the intention of robbing them.

     

    The case kicked off yesterday afternoon and is expected to continue this morning (Dec. 4).

     

    While Parris is being represented by Hesketh Benjamin, the other three accused are representing themselves.

     

    His Lordship Justice Francis Belle is presiding over the matter and it is being prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Paulina Hendrickson, and her team consisting of Reynold Benjamin and Rhonda Nisbett-Browne.
