Wanted man Kimo Flemming stays ahead of police

WANTED: Kimo Flemming
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man, suspected to be jointly involved in the murder of Sheldon ‘Sword’ Cannonier in Lime Kiln, continues to stay one or more steps ahead of the police who are desperately trying to track him down.

The man, Kimo Flemming, has been on the run for some three weeks since the police had issued a wanted bulletin for him.

According to the police, the 28-year-old Flemming of Trafalgar Village is dark in complexion, weighs 142 pounds, has brown eyes, black hair and is six feet tall. Also, he sports a tattoo of a heart and cross on his left forearm.

A June 29 release stated that “a warrant in the first instance” was issued for his arrest and that he “is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous and should not be approached by the general public”.

It also stated that if any member of the public sees him or knows of his whereabouts, that information should be communicated to the nearest police station or the Crime Stoppers Hotline (1-800-8477) should be called and the information could be anonymously relayed.

The release further stated that the individual who provides the information may be eligible for a reward.

Another release, sent this morning (Jul. 19), states: “Anyone who harbours or helps him in any way to evade the police commits an offence and will be arrested and charged. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 465-2241 Ext. 230, or the nearest police station.”

Flemming is the fourth person allegedly involved in Cannonier’s shooting-death.

Just over a month ago, the police informed that Sylvester ‘Syl’ Crossley of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre, Shane Amory of New Road Housing and Vance Thomas of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre were arrested, charged and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

Cannonier was gunned down execution-style shortly after 12 noon on Sunday (June 2) after attending a church service in Lime Kiln.

Sources close to Cannonier informed that he had attended the mid-morning Service at The Rivers of Living Water Christian Center in Lime Kiln.

However, after exiting the church and heading towards the Good News Baptist Church to meet his daughter, a number of armed men approached and shot him to death.

The 31-year-old of Neverson Street East, Newton, Basseterre was pronounced dead on the scene by the District Medical Officer.

According to eyewitness account, two vehicles and two masked men were involved in his death.

On condition of anonymity, the eyewitness said, “I was walking out from church, and as I walked up the road I saw two cars pulled up. One was blocking the young man’s passage and two fellows exited the other. They had on masks.

“They first fired two shots and when he fell down they went over him and continued shooting. After they finished shooting both cars sped away and the guys ran into the bushes on the eastern side.”

On Tuesday (June 4), Barbados-based Forensic Pathologist Dr. Stephen Jones performed an autopsy on the body of Cannonier and revealed that death was due to gunshot injuries to his head.

He was laid to rest at the Springfield Cemetery on Wednesday (Jun. 12).
