July 19th, 2013  --  Oasis Language, Arts and Educational Foundation has launched its second annual Oasis Summer Camp in Carifesta Village on Monday July 15th. The camp runs for two weeks and ends on July 26th. The camp initially designed for ages 2 to 7, but due to demands the camp is open for children up to 11 year old.

Director of the Camp Kim Prowell-Huie, says the event is packed with activities, ranging from a visit to the Taiwanese Farm, Art and Craft, tree planting and a visit by Operation Future’s Officer Lauston Percival.

There is also a health session for the children with Nurse Glenecia Natta, a dental session with Dr. Trevor Christmas and a session on music, drumming with Mr. Royde Phipps and fire-fighter Mr. Josefa Bertie who will teach about fire safety . There is also a planned visit and presentation later this week by Venezuelan Ambassador Rumulo. The campers are also taught basic Spanish every day in the evening sessions.

Director Prowell-Huie stresses the need for the camp to be affordable to participants and announced a rate of $EC50 per week for the two weeks, which includes lunch, and a registration fee of $10. Even though the camp has just started, she said it is not too late for persons to register. Interested participants can call 760-2751 or 669-6789. Mrs. Prowell-Huie thanked sponsors who have come on board thus far to support the camp, namely Harper’s Office Depot and the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Special thanks to the New Birth Gospel Tabernacle Church for providing transportation. The Oasis Foundation is designed to assist in the development of young people in academics, the arts and their holistic development. The Foundation conducts afternoon classes at affordable rates during the school year and will be unveiling plans for classes in the performing arts in the near future.
