    Barbados hosting CDERA Conference

    ~~Adz:Right~~BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – DISASTER MANAGEMENT practitioners from across the region and beyond will meet in Barbados from December 8 to 12 for the third annual Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management.

     

    The conference is organised by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA) and is held under the theme “Comprehensive Disaster Management – A Catalyst for Change”.

     

    Sessions will focus on mainstreaming disaster risk management efforts into key sectors such as agriculture, finance and education.

     

    Other areas that will be addressed include pandemic threats, planning for earthquakes and tsunamis, climate change and climate variability, humanitarian reform in response operations and emergency management of vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and the disabled.

     

    The conference is structured to attract participation from persons who are actively involved in or have a keen interest in the areas of Gender and Disaster Management, Caribbean Disaster Risk Insurance, Business Continuity Planning and Professional Development Sessions.

     

    The International Strategy for Disaster Reduction global platform will also be discussed and there will be ongoing dialogue about the progress being made to advance Comprehensive Disaster Management in the Caribbean.
