SKNYPA invites public to ‘Hunt for History’

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HISTORY buffs and persons of all ages can occupy their Sunday (Dec. 14) afternoon with ‘Hunting for History’, a treasure hunt organised by the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA) and Positively Inclined.

The hunt will see participants travelling around Basseterre in search of historical clues that will lead them to the figurative jackpot.

These clues will be based on the history of the island and, according to Organiser Cindy DeSuza, the move is a way for persons to learn about the history of the island in a fun and enjoyable way.

“The recent Silver Jubilee Independence celebrations have reminded us of how far we have come as a society, but there are many aspects of our history that people are not aware of. This hunt is a way for persons to regain that connection with Kittitian history,” she said.

Teams can be comprised of a minimum of two to a maximum of five persons and will be charged a registration fee of EC$100.

The prizes have been assembled from a wide variety of local enterprises and include Digicel mobile phones and vouchers from Ashburry’s, TDC, Island Hopper, Sugar Klothing and Serendipity.

Independence Square is the designated starting point and teams are asked to congregate there at 3:00 p.m. in anticipation of the event’s 4:00 p.m. commencement.

DeSuza encouraged persons to register and support the event, noting that the event is also a way for SKNYPA to raise funds for the financing of their various projects.
