    Fiestas announced all over Cuba for 50th anniversary of the Revolution

     


    ~~Adz:Right~~Havana, Cuba - IN every municipality of the country, cultural events will be held to salute the 50th anniversary of the Revolution, according to Joel Queipo, of the National Bureau of the Union of Young Communists (UJC).

     

    Queipo said that this program is called “Everybody with the Revolution,” and is characterized by very diverse cultural offerings, along with sports and other events, as a demonstration of the achievements of the Cuban people over these five decades in terms of spirituality and a better quality of life.

     

    Beginning in the latter half of December, the program covers the whole country,  and includes concerts at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribunal, which kick offs on the 25th with the Anacaona and Azúcar Negra bands, and closes on January 1 with Van Van, Paulo FG and the Tropicana nightclub show.

     

    The central national celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Revoution will be on the 21st at the Teatro America with top artists and performances by the Cuban TV Dance Corps and the theater’s own dance corps.

     

    Open-air dances are scheduled to 10 plazas throughout the capital with popular bands, and on January 3, there are shows for children in the same plazas, with music, dancing, circus artists, theater and more.

     

    Starting tomorrow, with the opening of two permanent encampments in La Palma and Los Palacios, in Pinar del Río, as well as in eight other provinces affected by the passing of the recent hurricanes, local and national artists will spend the night in these to celebrate New Year with those communities.

     

    For New Year’s Day, popular bands will perform and artistic shows will be held in 11 locations. Previous to that, on December 20, Havana’s Calle 23 will have 20 points set up with varied programming.

     

    This includes concerts, theater groups, comedians and circus artists; there will be art exhibits, book and craft sales and talks with writers, poets, sports heroes and figures from Cuba’s most recent history.
