BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO motorists were unpleasantly surprised when a galvanise fence fell onto the roofs of their parked vehicles in New Street on Thursday, December 11.

At around 10 a.m. the owners of P5162 and PA2908 reported hearing crashing sounds and went outside their respective offices to inspect the cause of the noise.

On arrival, they were dismayed to realise the roof and left side of their vehicles had been covered by the galvanise fence located on the right side of New Street, directly opposite the Ministry of Finance’s Parking Lot.

However, thanks to the help of concerned passersby, the fence was lifted and put back into the empty lot it guarded.

PA2908 sustained no visible damage while P5162 received minor damages to its roof and right side.

Observers noted the inadequate structure of the fence, as it was held upright by four vertical posts (not embedded in the ground) and connected to the walls of the lot by several nails.

Agitated persons could be heard imploring for the galvanise fence to be removed permanently in order to prevent future accident.
