NIP looks to Nevis for candidates

Roy Flemming

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE fledgling National Integrity Party (NIP) expressed its intention to not only contest the upcoming General Elections but to also field a candidate for each of the 11 constituencies in the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.

Just about four months have elapsed since the party was formed and more than a month since this declaration was made via the media.

While speaking with SKNVibes, the party’s Deputy Leader, Roy Flemming, gave a brief update on its progress in identifying suitable candidates to fill each of the vacant slots – which this publication understands are eight.

As it stands, the party’s Leader, Glenroy Blanchette, is likely to contest St. Christopher One, Flemming in St. Christopher Two and it is suggested that Bernard Welsh would contest St. Christopher Three.

Flemming told SKNVibes that the NIP still has every intention of filling all 11 slots and has begun doing some groundwork in Nevis.

“It is our intention to field 11 candidates. We are a relatively new party and we recognise that there would be a few challenges. However, we have been speaking to persons over in Nevis and we are trying our utmost to accomplish this feat of running 11 candidates.”

For the NIP to gain success in its quest for 11 candidates to contest the next General Elections, this would depend chiefly on its effort and the general acceptance of the party as a possible history-altering force in the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.
