Bronx, NY: SPBS (Sandy Point Benevolent Society) are at it again! In just over a week, during the annual Labor Day week end festivities, the Sandy Point Benevolent Society, a Sandy Point High School alumni association will host its Third Annual Benefit Gala in New York City. From all reports, the impressive Eastwood Manor Banquet Hall, 371 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY will come alive as scores of nationals from the twin island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis resident at home and abroad are expected to attend this GALA affair.
A spokesman for the organization said that its members are on a mission to sell tickets that will ensure a sellout crowd of at least 300 guests. The $90.00 event cost will allow for an all-night open bar, free entry in door prize drawings, trinkets, customized with the national colors of St.Kitts and Nevis and a complimentary souvenir magazine printed in celebration of 20112 Gala Event. Patrons at the banquet will have an opportunity to participate in the annual raffle with a grand prize of a Cruise for Two.
This event will be held under the distinguished patronage of Sir Hugh and Lady Rawlins, Retired Chief Justice of the Caribbean Supreme Court. Many on the SPBS executive team remember Hugh as a dynamic teacher of History at the CEMSS.
Other notable dignitaries will include Her Excellency Jacinth L. Henry-Martin. She will attend in a show of support for their Alma mater, Sandy Point.
The 2013 SPBS Benefit Gala will feature as its Special Guest Speaker, Dr. Spencer Eugene Amory. Dr. Amory serves as the Jose M. Ferrer Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Columbia University College Physicians and Chief of General Surgery at the Columbia University Medical Center.
Also sharing the spotlight will be the distinguished honourees. These will include the civic organization SPIRIT; along renowned educator and calypsonian Singing Jackie; and past principal of CEMSS, William V. Hodge.
The Awards Banquet promises to be a reunion of sorts, an evening of celebrating excellence, connecting and reconnecting, with friends, classmates, schoolmates, teachers and nationals of the Federation. Lots of Caribbean food, drinks, fun, laughter, music, dancing, and celebration will make the night one to remember.
