BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE woman who was believed to have inflicted burns upon one of her children, has been officially charged.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd explained to SKNVibes that the renowned female calypsonian who was in police custody, was charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.
He said the charges were laid on Monday (Aug. 19).
The incident which led to the charges reportedly took place on the evening of Friday, August 16, 2013.
Reports suggest that two children – the male believed to be less than 18 months old and the female less than 12 years old - suffered burns about their bodies.
Both were taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment with the daughter seemingly suffering more severe wounds.
This media house learnt that the male child was recently discharged from the hospital while the female is still warded there.
SKNVibes understands that in addition to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Child Welfare Department is making investigations into the matter.
