BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force were yesterday (Dec. 16) morning seen marching through the streets of Basseterre as part of the activities involved in the Commissioner’s Monthly Parade.

The parade proceeded west along Cayon Street, south into Church Street, east onto the Bay Road, north into Fort Street and Victoria Road and culminated with an easterly march into Lozack Road.

The parade, which comprised of four platoons with musical accompaniment of the institution’s Drum Corps, was led by Commissioner of Police, Austin Williams, followed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd and Assistant Commissioners of Police Joseph Richardson and Joseph Liburd.

Prior to the march, the law enforcement officers converged at the Police Training School Complex where junior officers were inspected and performed both foot and rifle drills.

At the end of the inspection, two officers, Constable Lauston Percival and Woman Constable Gleneva Shaw were adjudged the Best Turned Out Officers. According to the Force’s Press and Public Relations Office, the officers were rewarded with two extra days off from police duty.

In an interview with SKNVibes, Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry explained that the purpose of the parade is to provide senior police officers the opportunity to sharpen their skills at giving commands while sharpening their subordinates’ skills at performing rifle and foot drills.

He said it is also held to ensure that the general deportment of the officers is up to the required standard.

The previous Commissioner’s Parade was held in Cayon late last month.
