Junior Minister of Social Development participates in Nevis Senior citizens outdoor activity

    NIA CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, September 2nd 2013 – Junior Minister with responsibility for Social Development Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams took part in the annual Beachnic (a seaside picnic) at Oualie Beach on August 29, 2013, hosted by the Social Services Department, Seniors Division, where she distributed bags on behalf of the Ministry of Health as a token of appreciation and mingled with those who had attended the event.

     

    In an interview with the Department of Information, Mrs. Brandy Williams stated that she was pleased that the island’s senior citizens were able to participate in a range of recreational activities among them swimming, an exercise session and board games.

     

    “It’s been a great day so far, we are here at the beach with the seniors they have had a long exciting and somewhat interesting day because we have seen most of them going into the water, exercising and having fun,” she said.

     

    The Minister also spoke to the distribution of hand bags to the seniors.

     

    “So far they are having fun they had a sumptuous lunch and now we are distributing some gifts which are compliments of the Ministry of Health and Mrs. Nicole Slack-Liburd and her staff,” she stated.

     

    Before the conclusion of the Beachnic, Mrs. Brandy-Williams joined the seniors in the games and activities along with staff members of the Social Services Department.
