BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ‘KEEP It Coming’ is the name of a freshly-penned Pop song by Hailie J featuring ‘Silky’ Hutton of St. Kitts, and the official music video for it is scheduled to be released tomorrow (Sept. 4).

This media house had an exclusive chit-chat with 24-year-old Mahalia ‘Hailie J’ Davis and 22-year-old Javier ‘Silky’ Hutton.

The song, which was written by both of them, was recorded at Nasa Records studio in New Road, St. Peter’s, of which Hutton is the Chief Executive Officer.

Asked how the collaboration came about, Hailie J, who is presently back home, informed that while working in the United States, she came up with a project to work with her fellow national artistes.

“Well, I was overseas for a while working on new material when I decided that I wanted to work on a project with all artistes from my hometown. I spoke with my advisor and she also agreed that it would be a great idea. So I met up with Silk at a Culturama Queen Show in Nevis and I pitched my idea and he decided to get on board.”

SKNVibes asked about the content of the song.

According to Silky, “It is like me and a girl was in a relationship and she left me, then she realised she messed up. So she wanted to come back and work out our problem, etcetera. So I told her keep her loving coming…ever flowing.”

As for what fans, persons in relationships and other listeners could take away from the song, Hailie J commented: “I think they can more relate to it as people are already experiencing situations such as the song.”

Silky advices to “take love seriously...don't take the person for granted, because life is too short for broken hearts”.

Both artistes spoke pleasantly about their first time working together; out of which a new friendship has blossomed.

Hailie J, however, lightheartedly poked fun at her colleague’s comical ways.

“Working with Silk was refreshing,…even though sometimes he annoys me with his sarcasm”, she said with laughter at the end of her statement.

“Well, it was a great experience for me working with Hailie. Oh my gosh, a big artiste…I fainted! But I like the fact that we both take music seriously, and when it comes to music it's time to work seriously,” Silky said.

Silky, during the interview, indeed showed his funny side in clarifying that he did not actually faint.

“Not the fainted part though, but it was a great experience.”

“See what I mean? He always jokes around,” Hailie J comically pointed out.

As for future collaboration, the public could expect hearing more from these two artistes.

“It was great! We had fun working together, we actually built a friendship. And there will definitely be more collaboration with Hailie-J and Silky,” Hailie J said.

SKNVibes attempted to get details as to the other artistes who Hailie J plans on working with in relation to her new project, but the songstress was tightlipped on that topic

“The people will just have to wait it out a bit and see who I will be working with next!”

Prior to the release of the new song, many people would say that Hailie J has been a bit quiet on the music scene in regards to song releases. But what many people may not know is that she has been busy on the music business side of things.

“I wouldn't say I was quiet, because I was busy working in the studio and making moves. But if I were to say, it would be about a little over a year because I released ‘If You Don't Know Me By Now’ in April of 2012. The video was in rotation; however, it didn't get the exposure that I expected.”

At the end of the interview, both artistes gave ‘big ups’ and ‘shout outs’.

Silky sends shout out to his mother, Jennifer Hutton, and all the radio stations in St. Kitts and Nevis

Hailie J, in her shout out to her mother Val and sister Lexy, emphasised that they were “working hard in the studio in the DMV (Washington D.C, Maryland and North Virginia) tri-state area where we hold it down”, adding, “Keep your eyes peel for more Hailie-J, more collaborations and great music, cause I will definitely keep ‘em comin…Boom!”

The music video for ‘Keep It Coming’ was directed by well-known national music director and producer Nigel ‘Capo’ Lewis of Tru Capo Productions

The video is expected to be released live on ‘The People’s Show’ at ZIZ TV.

According to Hailie J, the viewing public could look forward to “a lot of sexy class style and great interaction between two incredible artistes”.
