Names of Nevis shooting victims revealed

~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE names of the two shooting victims on Nevis and additional information were released this evening by the Police Public Relations Department.

According to the release, the two shooting victims are 23-year-old Akeem ‘Ackbal’ Edwards of Morning Star and Kelvin Kelly of Homes Hill, Gingerland.

The release said that about 12:25 this morning (Dec. 21) police responded to a report of shooting at Marion Avenue in Charlestown and investigations revealed that Edwards, who was walking along the said road, was shot in the left knee by an unknown assailant.

He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he is detained in a stable condition

The release further states that police responded to another shooting report some two hours after which occurred on the island’s main road at Qualie. Investigations revealed that Kelly was shot in the back by an unknown assailant after exiting his vehicle which was parked on the side of the road.

Kelly also was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he is warded in a critical condition.

No one has since been held in connection with either incident and the police are appealing to persons who have information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators to call the Cotton Ground Police Station at 469-5269 or the Criminal Investigation Department in Charlestown at 469-5391.

“All information received will be treated with strict confidence,” the release said.
