    Nevis Maternal Health Fund donates Fetal Heart Monitor

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - THE Alexandra Hospital got a fillip to its Maternity Ward on Friday (Dec. 19) when the Nevis Maternal Health Fund (NMHF) donated a compact Fetal Heart Monitor for the purpose of recording and monitoring variations in babies’ heartbeats.

     

    Minister of Health in the Nevis Island Administration the Hon. Hensley Daniel, Matron Sinica Dias, Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Jessica Bardales-Essien and Shelisa Martin-Clarke of the NMHF were among those present at Friday’s ceremony.

     

    In her presentation, Martin-Clarke mentioned other donations the Fund had made to the hospital which included a birthing bed. She noted that the purpose of the NMHF is to enhance the birthing experience of women in Nevis.

     

    Matron Dias accepted the donation and recorded the hospital’s gratitude to the NMHF.

    “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the members of the Maternal Health Fund for their generous donation of the Fetal Heart Monitor. We know this is the season of giving and we are very happy to be on the recipient’s end.

     

    “We are looking for a continued mutual beneficial relationship between the Alexandra Hospital and the Maternal Health Fund. I know that the patients of the Obstetrics Unit, Maternity Unit will benefit tremendously from this monitor and we would like to express thanks on behalf of the patients as well who will be utilising this equipment,” Matron Dias said.

     

    Minister Daniel too recorded his appreciation to the Fund for the donation. He also appealed to members of the public to invest in the health services of Nevis.

     

    “I want to say that it is in health services that we are to invest boost because everybody’s arrow points to the hospital. We may have in our heads that we may travel overseas for specialised care but you are prepared for specialised care from here and, as such, we would like to engage as many people as possible in helping us to meet the needs of the hospital,” Minister Daniel said. ~~Adz:Left~~
