BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-THE children of St. Kitts-Nevis will flood the streets of Basseterre later this afternoon (Dec. 31) in what is anticipated to be “a large and very exciting” Carnival Parade.

Scheduled to leave the Patsy Allers Playing Field in St. Johnson’s Village at 2 p.m., the parade will proceed East along Cayon Street, turn right on West Independence Square Street, turn right on the Bay Road and then travel from there North along Fort Street.

When the children reach Cayon Street again they will turn left on Church Street and then travel to the Bay Road and Port Zante, where they will eventually disperse.

Cynthia Hull, Vice-Chairperson of the Carnival Committee and Executive Officer of Street Activities, informed SKNVibes that the general public should expect the 2008 LIME Children’s Carnival Parade to be one of the most memorable in recent years.
“It should be much better than last year I think.

The LIME Children’s Carnival Parade will be much more elaborate and colourful this year and we are expecting it to generally be of a higher caliber,” she said.~~Adz:Right~~

Hull stated that the private and public schools will be divided into five ‘zones’ for the parade, each with its own colour scheme and themes.

Additionally, the Majorettes will lead the march through town with their skillful baton twirling to entertain the crowd and the all new Boys on Bikes Troupe will bring up the rear of the parade.

An estimated 60-100 boys are expected to ride with the Boys on Bikes Troupe, which its organisers said would represent a “fun, festive event promoting a positive message” for the young men of the Federation.
