    Police/Court Round Up

    ~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OVER the past couple of days, four individuals were arrested, charged and are expected to appear before the court shortly.

     

    Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peters resident Elvia Collins was taken into custody on Christmas Eve Day and charged with the offences of “having cannabis in her possession” and for “having cannabis with intent to supply another”.

     

    An offence of “simple wounding” was preferred against Seleem Chiverton of Browne Pasture, who was arrested on December 27, 2008.

     

    For the offences of “obstruction” and “battery on police”, Vonya ‘Numia’ Akers of Cayon was arrested and charged.

     

    New Road Housing Development resident Lynette Brunder was arrested and charged with the offences of “driving without a valid driver’s licence and “driving without insurance”.

     

    OPERATIONS

     

    The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is preparing charges against persons who were found flouting the law on Friday, December 26, 2008.

     

    A police press release informs that on that day, from about 5:00 in the morning, the security forces conducted stop and search operations which saw 350 individuals and 75 vehicles being searched for “illegal drugs, arms, ammunition”.

     

    The release stated that as a result, “several quantities of cannabis were found and taken into custody. Charges are presently being prepared against the relevant offenders”.

     

    Also as stated in the release, other patrol duties were executed in the Lower Monkey Hill area on that day and “at about 8:50 p.m. when they came upon two young men who took off running when they saw the officers, a plastic bag was dropped by one of the men and a search revealed that the bag contained a quantity of cannabis. The drugs were taken into custody and investigations are ongoing”.
