Nevisian found dead outside guesthouse

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man said to be in his early 70s was this morning (Oct. 19) found dead outside a popular guest house on Cayon Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts.

Dead is Wingrove Morrison Jones, alias ‘Punter, of Fountain Estate, Nevis.

Information reaching this publication states that sometime around 5:00 a.m., passersby saw the motionless body of Jones partly lying on a concrete structure with his feet on the ground and his head bracing the wall of Glimbaro Guest House on Cayon Street.

The police were notified and had arrived at the scene shortly after 6:00 a.m.

This media house learnt that Jones is a butcher and would regularly travel to St. Kitts to ply his trade at the Basseterre Market on the Bay Road.

According to an individual who had seen the body before the police had arrived at the scene, “Something adding up! The man was shirtless and without shoes on his feet. Maybe he was staying at the guesthouse and felt sick, so he must have went outside to get some fresh air. But, then again, even if he forgot to put on a shirt…why was he barefooted? Something seems strange indeed. I only hope that this is not another murder.”

When contacted, Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David confirmed that Jones was found dead outside the guest house but could not say if foul play was suspected.

He however informed that investigations are ongoing.
